Monseratte 1906

Trudging through the dust and heat,

I was one of the perseverant who made it through the caravan

to the Garden of Eden.

I was awestruck by an edifice of such elegant splendour,

blinding my vision with its marble lattice work reminiscent of Mughal Delhi.

Sitting comfortably amongst lush wafts of coloured bloom

and the bells of cooling water

it woke me from my tired slumber,

ready to 'shake hands' with the honourable hosts, 

the Lady and Sir Frederico Cook…
